The DIXON VALVE COUPLING 1040506C is a brass female barbed hose fitting designed to create a secure, leak-resistant connection between a threaded pipe or port and a flexible hose line. The fitting features a 3/8 inch NPTF female threaded inlet and a 0.3125 inch hose barb sized for 5/16 inch inside diameter hose. The barbed design grips the hose interior to resist pull-off, while the NPTF thread form provides a pressure-tight dry seal without relying on thread sealant tape alone. At 0.05 pounds and 1.66 inches overall length, this compact fitting is well suited for tight installation spaces. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors commonly install this type of fitting in fluid transfer, equipment cooling, and low-pressure pneumatic lines.
This fitting is appropriate for residential and light commercial applications where a flexible hose must terminate at a female NPT port. Typical install scenarios include equipment water supply lines, coolant routing, compressed air accessories, and similar fluid or gas transfer systems operating within the pressure and temperature ratings of brass and NPTF threaded connections. It is sold individually and is a direct off-the-shelf replacement for worn or damaged barbed female connectors of the same thread and hose size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement barbed hose fitting for systems requiring a 3/8 inch NPTF female threaded port connection to 5/16 inch inside diameter flexible hose.
Installation is performed by plumbers, HVAC technicians, or qualified maintenance personnel. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain any fluid before removing or installing fittings. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads being engaged to ensure a leak-free joint, following the fitting manufacturer and applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines for the service fluid. Do not overtighten; use the hex head and a correctly sized wrench to seat the fitting without cracking the brass body.
