The DIVERSITECH qtm-2 is a MAC-series line piercing valve designed for HVAC refrigerant line service. It uses a uniport design that combines the piercing and servicing functions into a single connection point, eliminating the need for separate access fittings. The valve seals with refrigerant-resistant O-rings and features a spring-loaded needle that automatically back-seats after servicing, leaving the refrigerant line free of restriction. Compatible with 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch OD tubing, it mounts with two socket-head screws. A hex wrench is included with each valve. Licensed HVAC technicians use this valve for quick line access during system diagnostics and refrigerant service.
The qtm-2 is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC refrigerant line applications where a permanent or temporary access point is needed without brazing or cutting the line. The integral needle depressor and wing cap allow the technician to pierce the line by hand, then connect any standard charging hose with a built-in depressor. Once the hose is removed, the spring-loaded needle reseats automatically, and the wing cap provides a secondary seal. This makes it a common tool for field service calls on air conditioning and heat pump systems where quick refrigerant access is required.
Designed for use on refrigerant lines with 1/2 inch and 5/8 inch OD tubing in residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with applicable EPA Section 608 regulations and local codes. Power down the system and relieve system pressure as appropriate before attaching the valve body to the tubing. Mount the valve using the provided hex wrench and socket-head screws, ensuring even clamping on the tubing. Discard the needle depressor after use and confirm the wing cap is fully seated to maintain the secondary seal.
