The DIVERSITECH 7-3858 is a black elastomeric, closed-cell, flexible pipe insulation tube designed to reduce heat gain and condensation on refrigerant suction lines, chilled water piping, and other cold or hot fluid lines in HVAC and plumbing systems. It measures 5/8 inch inner diameter with a 3/8 inch wall thickness and comes in a 6-foot length. The closed-cell cellular structure delivers a thermal conductivity of 0.27 at 75 degrees F and 0.276 at 90 degrees F, keeping systems running efficiently. Licensed HVAC technicians and plumbers are the typical installers for this product.
This pipe insulation is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC applications, particularly on copper refrigerant lines, chilled water lines, and domestic cold water piping where condensation control and energy efficiency are priorities. The flexible elastomeric construction conforms easily during installation and maintains a secure fit around standard 5/8 inch OD tubing common to many split-system and mini-split installations. Its closed-cell makeup resists moisture absorption, rated at 0.2 percent water absorption, making it appropriate for humid environments and exposed mechanical runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation for 5/8 inch inner diameter pipe and tubing in residential and commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
This insulation is typically installed by licensed HVAC technicians or plumbers during new system installation or line set service. Before installing, ensure the pipe surface is clean, dry, and free of burrs or debris that could compromise the seal. Slit the insulation lengthwise if sliding over existing piping, and use a compatible elastomeric insulation adhesive at seams and butt joints to maintain a continuous vapor barrier. Follow local mechanical codes and manufacturer adhesive guidelines for proper joint sealing.
