The DITEK DTK-4LVXR is a 4-pair low voltage surge protector designed to safeguard access control wiring and signal circuits operating at 12 or 24 volts. It clamps transient voltage events up to 130 volts, protecting downstream electronics from damage caused by lightning-induced surges, power crosses, and inductive transients. The unit handles four discrete wire pairs in a single device, making it well suited for multi-conductor access control runs where panel inputs and door hardware share a common cable bundle. Licensed security and low-voltage technicians install this device as part of a compliant surge protection scheme on sensitive access systems.
The DTK-4LVXR is used in commercial and light-industrial access control installations where 12-volt or 24-volt DC wiring connects controllers, card readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and similar field devices. It is positioned at the point of entry or at the panel, ahead of the access control board, to intercept surges traveling along the cable before they reach sensitive electronics. It is sold as a single unit and is appropriate for new installations and retrofit surge protection upgrades alike.
Designed as an OEM-style surge protection solution for 4-pair, 12-volt or 24-volt low-voltage access control wiring systems in commercial and residential applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or security technician in accordance with applicable NEC Article 725 requirements for Class 2 and Class 3 circuits. De-energize the access control panel and lock out power before making any wiring connections to the device. Mount the protector as close to the cable entry point as practical and ensure the ground terminal is bonded to a clean earth ground for effective surge diversion. Do not exceed the rated voltage of the protected circuits.
