The DISSTON COMPANY 521135 is a 1-1/8 inch spade-style wood boring bit designed for fast, clean hole cutting in wood substrates. Forged in one piece from special grade tool steel and heat treated for extra strength, this bit is built to withstand repeated use in demanding job-site conditions. The Micro-Groove point features 38 cutting edges with extended spurs that score the wood perimeter before the main blade removes material, reducing tear-out and producing cleaner bore holes. Electricians, carpenters, and plumbers commonly reach for this style of bit when drilling through framing, joists, and studs.
This spade bit is suited for residential and light commercial construction and remodeling work. It is a practical single-piece replacement bit for tool bags and drill kits where a 1-1/8 inch diameter bore is required. Typical applications include running conduit, pipe, or cable through wood framing members where a clean entry hole matters. The extended spur geometry makes it especially useful when working with softwoods and engineered lumber commonly found in residential construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement spade bit compatible with standard 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chucks accepting hex or flat-shank spade bit profiles.
Installation is performed by tradespeople including electricians, plumbers, and carpenters using a corded or cordless drill. Secure the bit firmly in the chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or otherwise stabilized. Use appropriate eye protection and ensure the drill speed is appropriate for the material being bored. Inspect the bit for cracks or deformation before each use and replace if any damage is observed.
