The DIG 16-071 is a hand punch tool designed for drip irrigation system installation and maintenance. It creates clean, consistent holes in poly mainline and distribution tubing, allowing technicians to insert emitters, barbed fittings, and micro-tubing connectors without splitting or deforming the line. Lightweight at 0.04 pounds, it is easy to carry on the job and is suited for both new installations and field repairs. Irrigation technicians and landscape professionals keep this tool on hand for any drip or micro-irrigation work.
This punch tool is used in residential and commercial drip irrigation systems. It is appropriate for installing emitters along vegetable garden rows, tree rings, shrub beds, and container plantings. The tool is typically used during initial system layout or when adding emitter points to an existing lateral line. It handles standard poly drip tubing common across low-volume irrigation systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard field tool for use with poly drip irrigation mainline and distribution tubing common in residential and commercial low-volume irrigation systems.
Irrigation technicians should depressurize and shut off the water supply to the drip system before punching new holes in pressurized lines. Position the tool perpendicular to the tubing surface and apply firm, even pressure to produce a clean hole. Avoid rocking the punch, as this can enlarge the hole and cause emitter fittings to leak. Follow local irrigation and plumbing codes when modifying an existing system.
