The DEWALT DWADT51618 is a combination drill tap designed to drill and thread a hole in a single operation. It produces a 5/16-18 UNC right-hand thread with a Class 2B fit, making it suitable for general-purpose fastening applications in metalworking. The tool is ground from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish and features three right-hand flutes for chip evacuation. Overall length is 2.25 inches. At 0.06 pounds, it is a lightweight, single-unit cutting tool installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and skilled tradespeople working in metal fabrication or field repair.
This combination drill tap is used in applications where a pilot drill and threading operation need to be combined into one pass. It is well suited for thin-gauge steel, aluminum, and similar metals encountered in HVAC equipment fabrication, electrical enclosure work, and light mechanical assemblies. The 5/16-18 UNC thread is one of the most common coarse-thread sizes in North American trade work, making this a practical tool for service kits and job-site toolboxes.
Designed as a standard combination drill tap for use in any drill press, CNC, or hand-held setup configured for 5/16-18 UNC threading in metal stock.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists or qualified tradespeople familiar with tapping operations. Secure the workpiece firmly before use and apply appropriate cutting fluid to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the material being tapped, and back out periodically to clear chips when working in deeper stock. Follow all applicable shop safety practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
