The DEWALT DWA8426F is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Built with an aluminum oxide abrasive bond in a resinoid matrix, this wheel delivers very coarse stock removal suited to deburring, weld blending, and surface conditioning on ferrous metals. The 6-inch diameter and standard 7/8-inch arbor hole make it compatible with common angle grinders used in fabrication, construction, and industrial maintenance environments. At a rated maximum of 10,100 RPM, it is engineered for high-speed grinder operation with a 0.04-inch wheel thickness profile that keeps the grinding face close to the work surface.
This grinding wheel is suited for professional trades that require fast, controlled metal grinding in the field or shop. Typical applications include weld seam removal, surface prep before coating, and edge cleanup on structural steel, pipe, and sheet metal. It is used by ironworkers, pipefitters, metal fabricators, and general contractors operating standard 6-inch angle grinders. The Type 27 depressed center geometry allows the wheel to be run at a low angle to the workpiece, improving operator control and reducing fatigue during extended grinding passes.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement grinding wheel for 6-inch angle grinders equipped with a 7/8-inch arbor, commonly used in metal fabrication, welding, and construction trades.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the grinder manufacturer's instructions and ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and unplug or de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before installation and never exceed the rated maximum RPM marked on the wheel. Ensure the arbor nut and guard are properly secured before operation.
