The DEWALT DW8833 is a bonded abrasive grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on angle grinders and compatible grinding tools. Built with a zirconia abrasive grain, it delivers consistent cut rate and extended wheel life compared to standard aluminum oxide wheels. The 9-inch diameter combined with a 1/4-inch thickness makes this a depressed-center grinding wheel suited for heavy-duty weld grinding, surface prep, and stock removal. The 5/8 inches-11 threaded arbor mount fits the standard spindle thread found on most large-diameter angle grinders. This wheel is installed and operated by metalworkers, fabricators, pipefitters, and ironworkers in both shop and field environments.
This grinding wheel is used in structural steel fabrication, pipe welding prep, and general metal surface conditioning. Its zirconia grain construction is well matched to carbon steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous metals where fast cut and wheel longevity are priorities. The 9-inch form factor is common in production grinding and heavy weld removal applications where a smaller wheel would require excessive passes. Typical installation scenarios include post-weld cleanup on structural members, bevel prep on pipe, and scale removal on plate stock.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement grinding wheel for large-angle grinders accepting a 9-inch bonded abrasive wheel with a 5/8 inches-11 threaded arbor mount.
Grinding wheels must be installed and changed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Before mounting, power down and disconnect the grinder completely, and inspect the wheel for cracks or chips. Always confirm the grinder spindle speed rating meets or exceeds the maximum RPM marked on the wheel before operation. Eye protection, face shield, and appropriate PPE are required during use.
