The DEWALT DW8724 is a bonded abrasive thin cut-off wheel designed for cutting ferrous metals in trade and industrial applications. Measuring 4 inches in diameter by 0.035 inches thick with a 5/8-inch arbor bore, this Type 1 flat wheel uses an A60T aluminum oxide grain structure suited for clean, fast cuts through mild steel, sheet metal, and metal conduit. Its narrow kerf reduces material loss and heat buildup during repeated cuts. Electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, and general trade contractors rely on this wheel size for angle grinder work in confined spaces and on smaller-diameter pipe or bar stock.
The DW8724 is a standard 4-inch Type 1 cut-off wheel compatible with 4-inch angle grinders and die grinders that accept a 5/8-inch arbor. It is well suited for residential and light commercial job sites where compact cutting tools are used to cut metal pipe, strut channel, all-thread rod, sheet metal, and similar ferrous materials. The 0.035-inch thickness makes it appropriate for applications where a thin kerf and reduced burring are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard consumable for 4-inch angle grinders and die grinders accepting a 5/8-inch arbor bore and rated for Type 1 cut-off wheels.
Cut-off wheels must be mounted and operated by qualified users following ANSI B7.1 and the grinder manufacturer's safety guidelines. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and never exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel or tool. Wear appropriate eye protection and guarding during operation. Ensure the grinder guard is in place and rated for cut-off wheel use before starting the tool.
