The DEWALT DW8709 is a Type 1 (01/41) resinoid-bonded aluminum oxide cut-off wheel designed for high-speed grinding and cutting applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 3 inches in diameter with a 1/8-inch thickness and a 3/8-inch arbor hole, this wheel is rated to a maximum of 24,400 RPM. The 24-grit aluminum oxide abrasive with an R hardness bond delivers aggressive material removal on steel and stainless steel. It is suited for use with small angle grinders and die grinders in production, maintenance, and fabrication environments.
This cut-off wheel is intended for cutting steel and stainless steel in both shop and field settings. Its compact 3-inch diameter makes it a fit for die grinders and small right-angle grinders where access to tight spaces or confined cuts is required. The reinforced construction supports use at rated RPM during sustained cutting passes. Typical users include metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and welders who need a reliable consumable for repeated cut-off work.
Designed for use on steel and stainless steel with die grinders and small angle grinders that accept a 3-inch Type 1 cut-off wheel with a 3/8-inch arbor hole and support a minimum spindle speed of 24,400 RPM or greater.
Cut-off wheels must be installed and operated by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Before mounting, verify the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 24,400 RPM maximum rated speed marked on the wheel. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never use a wheel that has been dropped or shows signs of damage.
