The DEWALT DW8425 is a depressed center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on angle grinders. Built with aluminum oxide abrasive and a resinoid bond, this wheel delivers consistent cutting action on ferrous metals, welds, and castings. The medium-grade, 60-grit specification makes it well suited for stock removal and surface conditioning work where a balance of cut rate and finish quality is needed. Rated to 12,200 RPM maximum, it is engineered to handle the demands of sustained grinder use in fabrication and field environments. The arbor-style connector fits standard 7/8-inch spindle tooling.
This wheel is intended for use with angle grinders in metal fabrication, structural steel work, weld grinding, and general-purpose ferrous grinding applications. The Type 27 and Type 42 dual-type designation provides flexibility for both flat and depressed-center grinding profiles. It is commonly used in manufacturing facilities, welding shops, and construction sites where repeated, heavy-duty grinding cycles are the norm. Trade professionals including welders, ironworkers, pipefitters, and general contractors rely on this wheel type for fast, controlled material removal.
Designed for use with angle grinders accepting a 5-inch, 7/8-inch arbor grinding wheel in Type 27 or Type 42 configurations.
Installation and wheel changes must be performed by a qualified operator following ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels. Always power down and unplug or lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the rated 12,200 RPM maximum speed. Ensure the arbor nut and flanges are properly seated and torqued according to the grinder manufacturer specifications before operation.
