The DEWALT DW1915 is a cobalt mechanics drill bit designed for drilling through hard metals, stainless steel, and other tough materials where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. It measures 15/64 inch (0.2344 inches) in diameter and features a 135-degree split-point tip with a pilot point design that self-centers on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch on most surfaces. The right-hand spiral flutes are web-thinned with a tapered web configuration to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish allows for quick visual inspection of bit wear. Licensed HVAC technicians, pipefitters, electricians, and general maintenance mechanics reach for cobalt bits when carbon steel or HSS tooling is not adequate for the job.
This bit is suited for use in residential and light commercial trade applications where drilling into hardened fasteners, structural steel, stainless fasteners, or cast iron is required. It fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical 15/64-inch shank and is compatible with both corded and cordless drill drivers that accept a straight shank. The 3-7/8-inch overall length gives enough reach for most panel, junction box, and mechanical room applications without excess flex.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cobalt drill bit for use in standard straight-shank 3-jaw drill chucks; no specific model or system compatibility data was provided in the product input.
This bit is installed by a qualified tradesperson into a standard drill chuck; tighten the chuck fully before use to prevent slippage on hard materials. Always wear appropriate eye protection when drilling metals. Reduce feed pressure as the bit breaks through material to prevent grab or breakage. Do not use cutting fluid types or speeds inconsistent with cobalt bit manufacturer recommendations for the base material being drilled.
