The DEWALT DW1674 is a 1-1/4-inch short power ship auger bit designed for fast, clean boring through wood framing and structural lumber. The short-length profile gives electricians, plumbers, and HVAC installers better control and clearance when drilling through tight framing cavities, wall plates, and floor joists. The self-feeding screw tip pulls the bit through material with minimal downforce, reducing operator fatigue during repetitive rough-in work. This bit is sold individually and is compatible with standard corded and cordless power drills as well as right-angle drill attachments commonly used in trade rough-in applications.
The DW1674 is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where trades need to bore holes through dimensional lumber in confined spaces. Typical applications include running wire, conduit, drain lines, or refrigerant tubing through wall studs and floor framing. The short auger design is especially practical when working inside wall cavities or near structural blocking where a standard-length bit would not fit.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standalone auger bit for use with standard corded and cordless power drills accepting the appropriate shank size.
Installation of this bit is performed by electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians during rough-in phases. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened before operating. Follow applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC clearance requirements when boring through structural members. Inspect the bit for damage or wear before each use and do not force the bit through material at an angle, as this can cause binding or shank damage.
