The DEWALT DW1573 is a spade bit designed for fast, clean wood boring in demanding trade applications. Measuring 7/16 inch in diameter and 6 inches in length, this bit drills through dimensional lumber, engineered wood, and similar materials with a flat paddle-style cutting head. The extended 6-inch length provides the clearance needed for deep-bore work common in rough-in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC installations. Electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians reach for spade bits when running conduit, pipe, or ductwork through wood framing. Sold individually.
The DW1573 is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where bored holes through wall studs, floor joists, or top plates are required. The 7/16-inch diameter is a common size for low-voltage wiring runs, small conduit, and similar penetrations through wood framing members. The 6-inch shaft length allows drilling through double or staggered framing without needing an extension.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch keyed or keyless drill chucks. Fits most corded and cordless drills accepting hex or round spade bit shanks.
Spade bits are installed by electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians during rough-in framing work. Secure the bit firmly in the drill chuck before use and verify the chuck is fully tightened. Follow applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC clearance and hole-size requirements for the specific trade application. Wear appropriate eye protection when drilling, and inspect the bit for damage before each use.
