The DEWALT ACCESSORIES DW1576 is a 5/8-inch by 6-inch spade bit built for fast, clean boring in wood and man-made materials. The full-length, heat-treated shank resists bends and breaks under heavy drilling load. High-performance cutting spurs produce a cleaner hole finish compared to standard paddle-style bits. The Extreme Speed Channel geometry accelerates chip removal, reducing heat buildup and keeping the bit cutting efficiently. A hex shank prevents slippage inside the chuck, and a ball groove shank design supports quick-change chuck systems. A hang hole at the top of the shank allows for organized storage and doubles as a wire-pulling aid on rough-in jobs.
This bit is sized for common rough-in applications in residential and light commercial work. At 5/8 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length, it reaches through standard framing lumber and engineered lumber panels without needing an extension. Electricians use this size to pull wire through stud bays and top plates. Plumbers run supply and drain lines through floor joists with this profile. Deck builders use it for fastener access holes and post hardware installations. The package includes 3 bits, making it practical for high-volume drilling tasks where bit longevity is a factor.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch keyed or keyless drill chucks, as well as quick-change chuck systems that accept a hex shank spade bit.
Install and removal should be performed with the drill unplugged or the battery removed. Confirm the chuck is fully tightened around the hex shank before beginning a bore. When drilling through framing members, keep steady feed pressure to allow the Extreme Speed Channel to clear chips; forcing the bit can cause binding. Always verify stud and joist cavities are clear of existing wiring, pipes, or fasteners before drilling.
