The DEVCON 11460 is a high-density, non-sag, high-impact-resistance wearing compound designed for surface protection and metal bonding applications. Supplied as a 30-pound pail containing resin and hardener, it mixes at a 2.5:1 ratio and is applied by trowel. The cured compound delivers a shear strength of 11,500 psi and a tensile strength of 4,220 psi, making it suitable for heavily loaded metal surfaces subject to abrasion, impact, and wear. It cures to a dark gray finish with a Shore D hardness of 85 at full cure. Zero VOC content and low odor make it practical for interior and enclosed environments. Licensed trades and maintenance professionals apply it where conventional metal repair is impractical.
This compound is formulated for use on metal substrates in both interior and exterior environments, including marine-grade applications. It is suited to industrial and commercial maintenance scenarios where metal surfaces experience continuous impact or abrasion. Typical installations include pump housings, impellers, wear plates, chutes, and similar metal components. The 30-minute working time allows for placement and shaping before the material sets. Functional cure is reached in 4 to 6 hours at ambient temperature, with full cure at 16 hours. Application temperature must fall between 55 degrees F and 90 degrees F for proper adhesion and cure.
Designed for bonding and surface protection on metal substrates in interior and exterior settings, including marine environments. Bonds metal to metal as stated by the manufacturer.
Application is performed by qualified maintenance technicians or industrial tradespeople familiar with epoxy systems. Clean and degrease the metal surface thoroughly before mixing; surface contamination is the leading cause of adhesion failure. Mix resin and hardener at the specified 2.5:1 ratio and apply by trowel within the 30-minute work life. Do not apply below 55 degrees F or above 90 degrees F, and allow full 16-hour cure before returning the assembly to service.
