The DAYTON LAMINA LRE 37 is an alloy steel mold punch retainer designed for light-duty stamping and progressive die applications. Part of the Light Duty (LRE) Series, it uses a ball lock mechanism to secure punches quickly and reliably without additional fasteners. The shank diameter measures 0.375 inches and the base footprint is 2.25 inches long by 1.25 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall. Thread size is 3/8-16. A 0.3125-inch dowel provides positive location, and the thread length runs 1.5 inches. Toolmakers and die maintenance technicians specify this retainer when fast punch changeouts and consistent repeatability are priorities.
This retainer is suited for use in progressive dies, compound dies, and transfer tooling found in metal stamping operations. It is typically installed in the punch plate or upper die shoe of light-duty press tooling. The ball lock design allows punch bodies to be inserted and released without full disassembly of the die set, reducing changeover time during production runs or scheduled maintenance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit component for light-duty progressive and compound die assemblies using standard ball lock punch retainer configurations.
Installation is performed by qualified toolmakers or die maintenance technicians. Disengage and lock out press energy before servicing any die component. Verify that the punch shank diameter and dowel hole pattern in the punch plate match the retainer dimensions before pressing the component into position. Consult the die drawing and applicable shop standards for proper torque and fit class on the 3/8-16 threaded fastener.
