The DAYTON LAMINA 9-2428-26 is a heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and precision tooling applications. It features a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, a 3/4 inch rod diameter, and a 7 inch free length, making it suited for high-load tooling setups that require consistent, repeatable spring force. Manufactured from chromium-vanadium steel, the spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 1,057 pounds with a maximum deflection of 2.1 inches. The red color coding follows the ISO 10243 heavy-duty classification standard, allowing toolmakers and die maintenance technicians to quickly identify spring duty rating during setup and changeover.
This die spring is used in metal stamping, forming, and die-making operations across both production and maintenance environments. It is installed by toolroom machinists, die makers, and press maintenance technicians in applications where high compression forces and long service cycles are required. The D-shaped wire cross-section maximizes the load-bearing surface area within the spring pocket, contributing to the part's durability under repeated cycling. Typical installations include stripper plates, pressure pads, and lifter assemblies inside progressive, compound, and single-stage stamping dies.
Designed as a heavy-duty ISO 10243 die spring replacement for stamping and forming tooling with a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter and 3/4 inch rod diameter requiring a 7 inch free length spring in the heavy-duty red classification.
Die springs of this type are installed and serviced by qualified toolroom technicians and die makers. Always de-energize and lock out the press before accessing the die set. Inspect the spring pocket and guide rod for wear or misalignment before installation, as side loading will reduce spring service life. Never compress the spring beyond the rated travel-to-solid dimension of 2.57 inches.
