The DAYTON LAMINA 9-2424-21 is a medium-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and related tooling applications. Built from chromium-vanadium steel, it delivers consistent force and reliable cycle life under repetitive compression loads. The spring features a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, a 3/4 inch rod diameter, and a 6 inch free length. At maximum deflection of 2.24 inches, it produces a load of 626 pounds. The D-shaped wire cross-section maximizes material fill within the spring cavity, contributing to higher load capacity in a compact envelope. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This die spring is suited for progressive dies, compound dies, stripper plate assemblies, and cam units found in metal stamping and forming operations. It is color-coded blue to indicate medium-duty load rating, consistent with ISO 10243 color-coding conventions. Typical installations are in production tooling across automotive, aerospace, and general metal fabrication environments where predictable spring force and deflection are required for part ejection, stripping, or component retention functions.
Designed as a medium-duty ISO 10243 die spring replacement for stamping die assemblies requiring a 1-1/2 inch hole diameter, 3/4 inch rod diameter, and 6 inch free length blue-series spring.
Die springs must be installed by qualified toolmakers or die maintenance personnel with the press locked out and all stored energy dissipated before service. The spring should be seated concentrically on the guide rod and within the spring pocket to prevent side loading, which accelerates fatigue failure. Do not compress beyond the rated maximum operating deflection of 37.50 percent during normal cycling. Inspect for cracking, set, or dimensional change at regular die maintenance intervals.
