The DAYTON LAMINA 9-1628-26 is a heavy-duty die spring engineered for use in stamping dies, press tooling, and precision industrial fixtures. Built from chromium-vanadium steel, it delivers consistent force and fatigue resistance through repeated compression cycles. The spring features a 1-inch hole diameter, a 1/2-inch rod diameter, and a 7-inch free length. It carries a maximum deflection load of 494 pounds and a maximum operating deflection of 2.1 inches, making it well-suited for high-force clamping and stripping applications. The D-shaped wire cross-section maximizes material fill within the coil for greater load capacity per unit length. Licensed HVAC techs, tool-and-die machinists, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary installers.
This die spring is sized for heavy-duty stamping die sets and press tool assemblies where consistent spring-back force is required. It is appropriate for both new tooling builds and replacement of worn or fatigued springs in existing die sets. The red color coding identifies it as a heavy-duty load rating per ISO 10243 color classification, allowing quick identification during tooling maintenance. Applications include blank holders, strippers, nitrogen cylinder alternatives in lower-force presses, and general industrial spring applications requiring a 7-inch free length component.
Designed as a direct-fit heavy-duty die spring for stamping die sets and press tooling requiring a 1-inch hole diameter, 1/2-inch rod diameter, and 7-inch free length per ISO 10243 specifications.
Die spring replacement should be performed by qualified tool-and-die technicians with the press locked out and all energy sources isolated per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the mating rod and bore for wear or scoring before installing the new spring. Do not compress the spring beyond the rated maximum operating deflection of 30 percent during setup or operation. Springs should be replaced in matched sets to maintain balanced load distribution across the die set.
