The DAYTON LAMINA 9-1218-36 is an extra heavy-duty die spring engineered for high-load stamping, forming, and tooling applications. Built from chromium-vanadium steel with a D-shaped wire profile, it delivers a maximum deflection load of 368 pounds over a maximum deflection of 1.12 inches. The 4-1/2 inch free length, 3/4 inch hole diameter, and 3/8 inch rod diameter make it a direct fit for standard die sets. The yellow color coding identifies extra heavy-duty duty rating per ISO 10243. Toolmakers and die maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This spring is used in metal stamping dies, punch presses, and progressive tooling assemblies in both production and job-shop environments. It performs in stripper plates, pressure pads, and knockout mechanisms where consistent, high-force return travel is required. The 25 percent maximum operating deflection rating and 1.41 inch travel-to-solid dimension guide proper preload setup during die build. Applications span automotive, aerospace, and general metal fabrication tooling.
Designed as a standard ISO 10243 die spring for use in tool and die applications requiring a 3/4 inch hole diameter, 3/8 inch rod diameter, and 4-1/2 inch free length in the extra heavy-duty duty rating class.
Die springs are installed and replaced by toolmakers or die maintenance technicians during die build or scheduled maintenance. Always de-energize and lock out the press before accessing the die set. Verify that the spring pocket depth and rod clearance match the travel-to-solid dimension to prevent coil bind. Do not exceed the 25 percent maximum operating deflection limit during normal press cycling.
