The DAYTON LAMINA 9-0812-36 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for high-load tooling and stamping die applications. It features a 0.5-inch hole diameter, a 9/32-inch rod diameter, and a 3-inch free length, making it suitable for presses and progressive die setups that demand consistent, repeatable force. Constructed from chromium-vanadium steel with a D-shaped wire cross-section, this spring delivers a maximum deflection load of 76 pounds at 0.75 inches of travel. The yellow color coding follows the ISO 10243 standard for identifying extra heavy-duty load class. Tool and die makers and maintenance technicians working in metal stamping and fabrication environments are the primary installers.
This die spring is used in stamping dies, punch presses, forming tools, and other metal fabrication tooling where high spring force and reliable deflection are required. The extra heavy-duty rating makes it appropriate for applications with demanding cycle loads and tight tolerance requirements. It is suited for both OEM die builds and in-field tooling maintenance across automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. Maximum operating deflection is rated at 25 percent of free length, and travel to solid load is 1.04 inches.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit die spring for stamping and forming tooling applications requiring a 0.5-inch hole diameter and 9/32-inch rod diameter pocket configuration with a 3-inch free length.
Die springs are installed by tool and die makers or maintenance technicians during die builds or tooling service. Always de-energize and lock out the press before replacing die springs. Ensure the spring pocket dimensions match the hole and rod diameter specifications to prevent lateral loading or premature failure. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as exceeding travel-to-solid load will damage the spring and may compromise die components.
