The DAP INC 25312 Weldwood Contact Cement Gel is a thick-bodied adhesive formulated for bonding applications where a standard liquid contact cement would run or sag. The gel consistency resists dripping, making it well-suited for vertical wall surfaces and overhead installations where open-time control and adhesive stay-put performance matter. Licensed trade contractors and experienced installers working with laminates, veneers, rubber, leather, and similar materials will find the extended assembly time useful for fitting large or complex surfaces before final contact bond. The product is packaged in a one-quart container.
This contact cement gel is used in residential and light commercial construction and renovation work. Typical applications include countertop laminate installation, cabinet facing, and trim bonding on vertical or overhead substrate orientations. The long open time allows the installer to reposition or adjust substrates before pressing the bond. Note that this product is not available to buyers located in VOC-restricted areas of California. Carpenters, finish contractors, and countertop fabricators are the primary installers of this product.
Designed as an OEM-style contact cement replacement suitable for bonding laminates, veneers, rubber, and similar materials to wood, metal, and other rigid substrates in typical construction and fabrication applications.
Application is typically performed by finish carpenters or countertop fabricators following manufacturer surface preparation guidelines. Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area before applying contact cement products. Allow both mating surfaces to receive an even coat and reach the proper tack stage before bringing surfaces together, as contact bonds are generally permanent on first contact. Follow all applicable local codes and safety data sheet guidance for solvent-based adhesives.
