The DAIKIN fta18aavjud is a 1.5-ton, 18,000 BTU multi-position inverter air handler designed for use with R-32 refrigerant in the SkyAir fan coil lineup. It operates on 208/230 volts, single-phase, 60 Hz power and draws a minimum of 4.9 amps with a maximum overcurrent protection of 15 amps. The unit features a variable-speed motor that delivers airflow from 420 CFM on low to 600 CFM on high, keeping sound pressure levels between 38.4 dBA and 44.6 dBA across all speeds. Manufactured in the United States, this air handler includes an integrated disconnect and is installed by licensed HVAC technicians in residential, multi-family, and light commercial applications.
The fta18aavjud supports upflow, downflow, and horizontal installation configurations, making it adaptable to a wide range of mechanical room and closet layouts. It pairs with compatible Daikin inverter outdoor units using R-32 refrigerant. The system is part of the FTA Multi Position Air Handler with Disconnect series, rated for systems from 1.5 to 4 tons. Interconnecting wiring uses F1 and F2 terminals. The unit is suited for new construction and retrofit installations where multi-position flexibility and low-GWP refrigerant compatibility are required.
Designed for use with compatible Daikin SkyAir inverter outdoor units operating on R-32 refrigerant. Compatible accessory and component part references include BRC1NRV71, BRP9A71, BRP9A72, HKTSD05X1, HKTSD08X1, HKTSD10X1, HKTSN05X1, HKTSN06X1, HKTSN08X1, HKTSN10X1, KRCS01-6B, KRP1BB101, KRP1C77, KRP4A74, and KRP4A93.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle R-32 refrigerant, which is classified as A2L mildly flammable under ASHRAE 34. Shut off all power at the breaker before making electrical connections, and verify supply voltage matches the unit rating of 208/230 volts. Line set connections use a 3/8-inch liquid line and 5/8-inch gas line; condensate drains to a 3/4-inch outlet. Follow local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation manual for clearances, refrigerant line sizing, and drain trap requirements.
