The CUTLER HAMMER 4038108C07B is a dual-element Bay-O-Net fuse link rated at 15 amps and 23 kV, designed for use in overhead distribution systems and pad-mounted transformer applications. Part of the Eaton Cooper Power series RTE product line, this fuse link provides two-element overcurrent protection, allowing it to handle temporary overloads without nuisance operation while still clearing sustained fault currents. The dual-element design improves coordination with upstream and downstream protective devices. At 0.546 inches in diameter and 3.88 inches in length, it is compact and sized for standard Bay-O-Net fuse holders. Utility linemen and electrical contractors working on medium-voltage distribution equipment are the primary installers.
This fuse link is used in medium-voltage distribution systems operating at up to 23 kV. Typical applications include pad-mounted transformers, submersible transformers, and overhead distribution cutouts where Bay-O-Net fuse holder interfaces are specified. The dual-element construction makes it well suited for circuits with motor loads or other inrush-current-producing equipment, where a single-element fuse might operate unnecessarily during startup transients.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fuse link for Bay-O-Net style medium-voltage fuse holders rated at 23 kV. Consult the fuse holder manufacturer specifications to confirm current rating and voltage class compatibility before installation.
Installation must be performed by qualified utility linemen or licensed electricians trained in medium-voltage distribution work in accordance with applicable NESC and NFPA 70E safe work practice requirements. De-energize and verify absence of voltage on the transformer and associated circuitry before removing or installing fuse links. Use appropriate high-voltage rated PPE and insulated tools rated for the system voltage. Do not exceed the 23 kV voltage rating or the 15 amp continuous current rating of this fuse link.
