The CUSTOM BUILDING PRODUCTS LQWAF3 RedGard is a ready-to-use elastomeric waterproofing and crack prevention membrane formulated for tile and stone installations in both residential and commercial settings. It applies with a roller, trowel, or sprayer to form a continuous moisture barrier with strong adhesion to a wide range of substrates. As a crack prevention membrane, it covers approximately 110 square feet per gallon at 30 mil wet thickness. As a waterproofing membrane, coverage is 35 to 40 square feet per gallon at 93 mil wet thickness and 47 mil dry thickness. Tile setters, flooring contractors, and plumbers rely on this product for wet area protection and crack isolation.
RedGard LQWAF3 is suitable for interior and exterior applications including shower pans, wet rooms, exterior decks, and slab-on-grade moisture barriers under resilient flooring. Approved substrates include concrete, cement backer boards, Wonderboard, exterior grade plywood in interior dry areas for crack isolation only, exterior decks, and gypsum drywall. It meets ANSI A118.10 for waterproofing membranes and complies with Uniform Plumbing Code specifications for use as a shower pan liner. It is also listed with IAPMO R T, file No. 4344 UPC, and carries ICC-ES ER-6014 approval. For slab-on-grade moisture barrier use under resilient flooring, refer to the E-Cap moisture barrier system technical bulletin.
Designed for use over concrete, cement backer boards, Wonderboard, exterior grade plywood in interior dry areas for crack isolation only, exterior decks, and gypsum drywall in commercial and residential tile and stone installations.
Installation is typically performed by licensed tile setters, flooring contractors, or plumbers depending on the application. Allow each coat to fully cure to the characteristic pink-to-red color change before applying additional coats or setting tile. Power-mix equipment is not required for this ready-to-use product, but surfaces must be clean, structurally sound, and free of standing water before application. Follow all applicable local plumbing and building codes, including IPC and UPC requirements, for wet area membrane installations.
