The COXREELS SD-35-1 is a spring-driven static discharge cable reel built for use in combustible and flammable environments where uncontrolled static buildup poses an ignition risk. The reel pays out and retracts 35 feet of 7-strand by 7-wire stainless steel cable, which is covered in a high-visibility orange vinyl jacket. A permanently lubricated, enclosed cartridge-style motor drives retraction and is removable for field maintenance without disturbing the reel mounting. The steel body carries a CPC powder coat finish that resists chipping and rust. At 18 pounds, the unit is compact enough for mobile and fixed installations alike. Licensed electricians and fuel-system technicians are the primary installers.
This reel is designed for combustible-environment applications such as fuel transfer stations, bulk fuel dispensing areas, aviation ground support, and fleet maintenance facilities. It is commonly paired with fuel hose reels to provide a dedicated grounding circuit before and during fuel transfer operations. The multi-position aluminum guide arm supports wall, floor, ceiling, and vehicle mounting, making the SD-35-1 suitable for both stationary shop installations and service vehicle outfitting. A 50-amp grounding clamp is included for direct attachment to tank trucks, rail cars, or storage vessels.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install static discharge reel for combustible-environment grounding applications; part of the COXREELS SD Series and is commonly paired with fuel hose reels in bulk fuel transfer setups.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified fuel-system technician in accordance with applicable NFPA and NEC requirements for bonding and grounding in hazardous locations. De-energize and verify the absence of flammable vapors before mounting or servicing the reel. Confirm the mounting surface can support the static and dynamic loads of the reel and cable under full extension. Do not substitute the included grounding clamp with a clamp rated below 50 amps.
