The COXREELS EZ-SDL-50 is a static discharge grounding cable reel built for use in combustible and fuel-handling environments where uncontrolled static buildup presents a serious ignition risk. It features the Coxreels EZ-Coil retraction system, which uses a lubricated, enclosed cartridge-style motor that retracts cable up to 80 percent slower than conventional spring-driven reels, reducing snap-back hazards for the operator. The reel ships with 50 ft of 7-strand by 7-wire galvanized steel cable wrapped in a high-visibility orange vinyl cover. The single-pedestal base is fabricated from solid one-piece steel with no welds at the support post joint, providing a stable platform in demanding service locations. Licensed contractors and fuel-handling technicians typically install this reel alongside fuel hose reel stations.
The EZ-SDL-50 is designed for stationary or vehicle-mounted applications where grounding a tank, tanker truck, aircraft, or other vessel before fuel transfer is required. The multi-position aluminum guide arm adjusts to accommodate wall, floor, ceiling, and vehicle mounting configurations, making it adaptable across bulk fuel facilities, service trucks, and fleet maintenance bays. It is commonly paired with fuel hose reels in fueling stations and bulk transfer operations where NFPA and OSHA requirements call for positive grounding of conductive containers prior to flammable liquid transfer.
Designed as an OEM-style static discharge grounding reel for use in combustible-environment fuel transfer applications; commonly paired with fuel hose reels in bulk fueling stations and mobile service units.
Installation should be performed by a qualified contractor familiar with NFPA 77 static electricity guidelines and applicable OSHA flammable-liquid handling regulations. Bond the reel chassis to a verified earth ground before putting the unit into service. Ensure the mounting surface is structurally rated for the reel weight and the cable tension loads expected during operation. De-energize or isolate any adjacent electrical equipment and confirm the area is free of ignition sources before performing maintenance or cartridge motor removal.
