The COXREELS EZ-SD-35 is a static discharge cable reel built for use in combustible and potentially explosive environments where uncontrolled static buildup poses an ignition risk. Part of the COXREELS SD Series, this reel features the patented EZ-Coil drive system, a lubricated and enclosed cartridge-style motor that retracts cable up to 80% slower than conventional spring-driven reels, reducing snap-back hazards. The steel cable is a 7-strand by 7-wire galvanized construction with a high-visibility orange vinyl cover. The reel weighs 18 pounds and ships as a single unit. It is installed by licensed electricians and fuel system technicians working in fuel distribution, aviation ground support, and industrial fueling applications.
The EZ-SD-35 is designed for combustible environments where static grounding is required before or during fuel transfer operations. Typical installations include bulk fuel facilities, tank farms, petroleum distribution terminals, and fleet fueling stations. This reel is commonly paired with fuel hose reels to provide a complete static discharge and grounding solution at the fueling point. The single-pedestal steel base supports wall, floor, ceiling, and vehicle mounting configurations via the adjustable multi-position aluminum guide arm.
Designed as an OEM-style static discharge and grounding cable reel for use in combustible fuel-handling environments; commonly paired with fuel hose reels as a complete static control solution.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or fuel system technician familiar with applicable NFPA and NEC requirements for hazardous locations. Verify that all power and fuel flow to the work area is shut off and the environment is clear of ignition sources before mounting or servicing the reel. The mounting surface must be capable of supporting the reel assembly and the cable tension loads generated during retraction. Do not defeat or bypass the cable stop or grounding clamp hardware.
