The COPELAND ZP42K5ETFD is a scroll compressor rated at 42,000 BTU/h, designed for residential and light commercial refrigerant systems running on R-410A. It operates on 460 VAC, 60 Hz, three-phase power with a rated load current of 6.1 amps. The scroll design uses one orbiting scroll and one fixed scroll. The fixed scroll attaches to the compressor body while the orbiting scroll couples to the crankshaft. This orbiting motion creates a series of gas pockets that draw in refrigerant at the outer edges, compress it as it travels inward, and discharge it at the center at elevated temperature and pressure. Licensed HVAC technicians handle installation and service on this compressor.
The ZP42K5ETFD fits residential split systems and light commercial cooling applications that require three-phase power at 460 VAC. The 0.5-inch stub-out discharge line and 0.875-inch stub-out suction line are sized for R-410A system piping. At 16.625 inches tall, it is built to standard dimensions for drop-in replacement scenarios in compatible condensing units. This compressor is a field-replaceable component typically serviced during system failures or efficiency-driven retrofits by qualified refrigeration technicians.
Designed as an OEM-style scroll compressor replacement for residential and light commercial R-410A cooling systems requiring 460 VAC three-phase power supply.
Installation must be performed by an EPA 608-certified HVAC technician. Recover all refrigerant and de-energize the system before removing the failed compressor. Follow standard brazing procedures for R-410A copper line connections on the stub-out discharge and suction ports, and leak-test the system before recharging. Consult the equipment manufacturer service manual and applicable local mechanical codes before proceeding.
