The COOPER WIRING DEVICES OS306U-LA is a passive infrared occupancy sensor wall switch designed to automatically control lighting based on detected motion. It provides 450 square feet of coverage with a 180-degree detection pattern, making it a practical retrofit solution for rooms where hands-free lighting control is needed. The switch supports manual delay adjustment and is rated for 600 watts at 120 volts AC for both incandescent and fluorescent loads. Licensed electricians typically install this device as a direct wall-switch replacement. The unit ships in a light almond finish suited to standard residential and light commercial interiors.
This occupancy sensor is intended for indoor use in residential and light commercial applications. It fits standard single-gang wall boxes and functions as a drop-in replacement for conventional toggle switches. Compatible load types include incandescent fixtures, halogen fixtures, CFL and electronic fluorescent ballasts, magnetic fluorescent ballasts, LED fixtures, and electrical motor loads. It is well-suited for offices, restrooms, utility rooms, classrooms, and similar spaces where occupancy-based switching reduces energy consumption and meets code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style wall-switch replacement for single-gang occupancy sensor applications supporting incandescent, halogen, CFL, LED, electronic fluorescent, magnetic fluorescent, and electrical motor loads at 120 volts AC.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify with a voltage tester before removing the existing switch. The sensor requires a neutral connection in addition to line and load conductors, so confirm neutral availability in the wall box before ordering. Do not exceed the rated wattage for any connected load type.
