The COOPER CROUSE-HINDS ASB 4 is an anti-short bushing designed to protect cable insulation from damage at conduit and fitting entry points. Installed at the cut end of armored cable, flexible conduit, or metal clad cable, it prevents the sharp metal edges of the armor from cutting into wire insulation. This small but critical fitting is a standard requirement in electrical rough-in work and is typically installed by licensed electricians during conduit termination. It fits 3/4 inch conduit applications and is sold as a single-piece unit.
This bushing is used wherever armored cable, flexible metal conduit, or metal clad cable terminates into a box, enclosure, or fitting. It is a common component in both residential and light commercial electrical installations. Electricians reach for this fitting during new construction, renovation work, and service upgrades any time armored or MC cable is being terminated to ensure code-compliant insulation protection at the cable end.
Designed for use with armored cable, flexible conduit, and metal clad cable in 3/4 inch conduit applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize the circuit and verify the absence of voltage before beginning any cable termination work. Slide the bushing over the cable end and seat it firmly at the cut edge of the armor before inserting into the connector or fitting. Installations must comply with applicable NEC requirements for armored and metal clad cable terminations.
