The COOPER BUSSMANN S-6-1/4 is a time delay plug fuse rated at 6.25 amps and 125 volts with an interrupting capacity of 10 kiloamps (RMS symmetrical). It is a two-element fuse designed to tolerate brief motor startup surges and harmless overloads while still clearing sustained fault currents quickly. The plug-type body mounts directly into a standard fuse holder, making it a common choice in residential and light commercial control circuits, small motor branch circuits, and appliance protection applications. Electricians and HVAC technicians install this fuse as an overcurrent protective device in low-voltage or line-voltage control panels.
This fuse is suited for residential and light commercial electrical systems where a plug-style, time delay overcurrent device is required. Typical applications include motor control circuits, transformer secondary protection, and appliance branch circuits that experience inrush current at startup. The rejection-type design helps prevent the installation of non-rejection fuses in the same holder, reducing the risk of improper substitution in the field.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement plug fuse for standard rejection-type fuse holders in residential and light commercial electrical and control panel applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements for overcurrent protection. Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing a fuse. Verify that the fuse holder is rated for plug-type rejection fuses before installation. Do not substitute a non-time-delay or non-rejection fuse in a holder designed for this style.
