The COOPER BUSSMANN MDL-6-R is a glass-body, time delay cartridge fuse rated at 6 amps. Time delay fuses are designed to tolerate brief inrush currents without nuisance blowing, then open the circuit when an overload or fault condition is sustained. At 1.25 inches overall length and 0.25 inches in diameter, the MDL-6-R fits standard miniature cartridge fuse holders found in control panels, HVAC equipment, and low-voltage circuits. With an interrupting rating of 10,000 amps at 125 volts and 200 amps at 250 volts, it provides reliable overcurrent protection in both residential and light commercial applications. Licensed electricians and HVAC technicians install this style of fuse regularly during control board service and panel maintenance.
The MDL-6-R is suited for use in control circuits, instrumentation panels, and electronic equipment requiring a 1/4-inch diameter miniature cartridge fuse with time delay characteristics. It is commonly installed in HVAC control boards, transformers, and low-voltage power supply circuits where motor inrush or transformer magnetizing current would otherwise cause an instantaneous fuse to open under normal startup conditions. The glass body allows for quick visual inspection of fuse element continuity without removing the fuse from the holder.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for miniature 1/4-inch diameter time delay cartridge fuse positions in control panels, HVAC equipment, and instrumentation requiring a 6-amp, 125-volt or 250-volt rated fuse.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or HVAC technician. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before replacing fuses. Confirm that the replacement fuse matches the amperage, voltage rating, and time delay characteristics specified on the equipment nameplate or wiring diagram. Do not substitute an instantaneous fuse for a time delay fuse in circuits with motor or transformer loads, as nuisance opening will result.
