The COOPER BUSSMANN LPJ-40SP is a Class J time-delay cartridge fuse rated at 40 amps. It provides overcurrent protection with a dual-element design that tolerates temporary inrush currents while still opening quickly on sustained faults. The cartridge body measures 27.00 mm in diameter and 2.375 inches in overall length. With an interrupting rating of 100 kA at DC and 300 kA at AC (RMS), this fuse is suited for high-fault-current environments. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians install this fuse in Class J fuse holders as part of branch circuit or equipment protection systems.
The LPJ-40SP is used in commercial and industrial electrical systems where Class J fusing is specified. Its time-delay characteristic makes it appropriate for circuits powering motors, HVAC equipment, and other loads with high startup inrush currents. The fuse mounts in a standard Class J fuse holder and fits into panelboards, disconnect switches, and motor control equipment where a 40-amp, time-delay Class J fuse is required.
Designed for use in Class J fuse holders rated for 40-amp time-delay cartridge fuses in commercial and industrial branch circuit and motor protection applications.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing the fuse. Verify that the fuse holder is rated for Class J fuses and that the circuit voltage and amperage do not exceed the fuse rating. Do not substitute a different fuse class or time-delay characteristic without reviewing the circuit protection requirements.
