The COOPER BUSSMANN FRS-R-2-1/4 is a cartridge-style, time delay fuse rated at 2.25 amps and classified under UL Class RK5. It is designed for general-purpose overcurrent protection in electrical distribution systems where a controlled delay is needed to ride through harmless inrush currents without nuisance tripping. The fuse features a dual-element construction and a 20 kA interrupting rating at DC 200 volts RMS. At 5 inches in overall length and 20.6 mm in diameter, it mounts in a standard fuse holder and is sized to fit Class RK5 fuse blocks. Licensed electricians install this fuse as part of branch circuit and equipment protection schemes in commercial and light industrial panels.
This fuse is suited for residential and commercial electrical installations where time delay characteristics are required to protect motors, transformers, and other inductive loads subject to startup inrush. Its RK5 class rating limits the fuses that can be installed in a compatible holder, providing an added layer of protection against substitution with a lower-rated device. The cartridge form factor allows for tool-assisted or fuse-puller removal during service. It is a non-indicating type, so visual inspection or a continuity check is required to confirm fuse condition during troubleshooting.
Designed for use in standard Class RK5 fuse holders and fuse blocks rated for cartridge fuses with a 5-inch overall length and 20.6 mm body diameter.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing any fuse. Use an approved fuse puller for cartridge fuse removal to avoid shock hazard. Verify that the replacement fuse class, amperage rating, and voltage rating match the original protective device specifications before energizing the circuit.
