The COOPER BUSSMANN FRN-R-60 is a Class RK5 cartridge time delay fuse rated at 60 amps. It is designed for general purpose overcurrent protection in branch circuit and feeder applications. The fuse features a two-element construction that provides a built-in time delay, allowing it to ride through harmless inrush currents from motor loads, transformers, and capacitor banks without nuisance opening. At 3 inches (76.2 mm) overall length and 20.6 mm diameter, it mounts in a standard fuse holder sized for Class RK5 cartridge fuses. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this type of protective device.
This fuse is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical distribution panels and disconnect switches where motor or transformer loads require time delay overcurrent protection. Its Class RK5 rating places it in the group of current-limiting fuses governed by UL 248-12 and CSA C22.2 No. 248.12 standards. The non-indicating body gives no external visual cue of a blown condition, so a fuse tester or multimeter is required for field verification during troubleshooting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class RK5 cartridge fuse positions in standard fuse holders and disconnect switches rated for 60-amp time delay fuses.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. Always de-energize and verify absence of voltage on the circuit before opening the fuse holder or handling the fuse. Use an insulated fuse puller rated for the voltage of the circuit. Do not replace a blown fuse without first identifying and correcting the fault condition that caused the overcurrent event.
