The COOPER BUSSMANN BP/MB-20 is an Edison base plug fuse circuit breaker rated at 20 amps and 125 volts. It is designed to replace standard Edison base plug fuses in residential panelboards and fuse boxes, providing resettable overcurrent protection without requiring fuse replacement after a trip. Electricians and qualified DIYers install this device in existing Edison base fuse sockets to modernize overcurrent protection in older electrical panels. The carded packaging includes a quantity of five units per package, making it practical for service trucks and multi-unit jobs.
This circuit breaker is suited for residential electrical systems that still use Edison base fuse panels. It fits directly into a standard Edison base fuse socket and resets manually after a fault clears, eliminating the need to stock replacement fuses for those positions. Typical applications include older homes, rental properties, and light commercial buildings where Edison base fuse panels remain in service. Installation requires no rewiring of the existing panel.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for standard Edison base plug fuse sockets rated at 125 volts in residential and light commercial fuse panels.
Installation must be performed in compliance with applicable NEC requirements for overcurrent protection devices. De-energize the panel and verify the circuit is dead with a meter before removing any fuse or inserting this breaker. Screw the unit into the Edison base socket by hand until seated — do not force or overtighten. A licensed electrician should evaluate any panel where repeated trips occur before the breaker is reset.
