The CONTINENTAL CONTITECH 20042776 is a fractional horsepower cogged V-belt in the 4L section, also identified by belt number 4L480. It features a high traction rubber construction with a cogged (notched) profile that increases flexibility and reduces heat buildup during operation. The 48-inch outside length and 47-inch internal length make this a direct-fit replacement for standard 4L-series drive applications. The cogged design allows the belt to bend around smaller-diameter sheaves without the flex fatigue associated with conventional wrapped belts. Rated for a maximum working temperature of 140 degrees C and a minimum of -40 degrees C, this belt handles a wide range of operating environments.
This belt is commonly used in fractional horsepower drive systems found in residential and light commercial HVAC equipment, including belt-drive blower assemblies, condenser fan drives, and small pump applications. It is appropriate for any fixed-center or adjustable-center drive using a 4L-groove sheave. Technicians installing or replacing drive belts in air handlers, furnace blowers, or similar equipment will find this a standard service item. The abrasion-resistant and ozone-resistant material extends service life in both indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor equipment installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for 4L-section fractional horsepower V-belt drives using a sheave or pulley grooved for 4L belts with a 48-inch outside circumference.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the drive motor de-energized and locked out per LOTO procedures. Never force a belt onto a sheave with a pry bar, as this can damage the cord structure. Adjust center distance to allow proper belt tensioning rather than stretching the belt onto the sheave. Inspect sheave grooves for wear and misalignment before installing a replacement belt.
