The CONTINENTAL CONTITECH 20042630 is a cogged V-belt in the 5VX wedge section, designed for high-torque power transmission applications in industrial and commercial equipment. Built from fiber-reinforced Wingprene rubber, this belt resists oil exposure and flexes efficiently over smaller sheave diameters. The cogged construction reduces heat buildup and improves flexibility compared to a standard wrapped belt. With a 140-inch outside length, it fits larger drive systems where extended center distances or high load capacity are required. HVAC technicians, millwrights, and mechanical contractors install this type of belt on blower drives, compressors, and other belt-driven rotating equipment.
The 5VX section is part of the HY-T Wedge Matchmaker Cogged belt family, a narrow wedge profile that transmits more power per inch of width than classical belt sections. This makes it a common choice for variable-pitch drives and high-horsepower blower systems found in commercial HVAC units, industrial fans, and heavy-duty pumping equipment. The 140-inch outside length is suited to installations where large frame equipment or extended shaft-center-distance configurations are used.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 5VX section cogged V-belt drives requiring a 140-inch outside length, also identified by belt number 5VX1400. Matches drives specifying 5VX1400 in standard sheave and pulley configurations.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by a qualified technician following the equipment manufacturer's drive design specifications. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before removing or installing drive belts. Never pry a belt over sheave flanges; adjust shaft center distance to allow proper belt seating. Verify sheave alignment with a straightedge or laser tool before final tensioning to prevent premature belt wear.
