The CONTINENTAL CONTITECH 20039517 is a cogged AX-section V-belt designed for power transmission in HVAC, industrial, and mechanical drive applications. Also identified as belt number AX78, this belt features a Fiber-Reinforced Vytracord construction that delivers high tensile strength with reduced flex fatigue. The cogged profile lowers bending resistance, which increases efficiency and reduces heat buildup on smaller-diameter sheaves. The outside length is 80.2 inches with a belt internal length of 79.30 inches. This belt is oil-resistant and rated for a working temperature range of -40 degrees F to 140 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding service environments.
This AX-section cogged V-belt is used in a wide range of belt-driven equipment including air handlers, condensing units, blowers, compressors, and general-purpose industrial machinery. The Torque-Flex design allows it to run on standard and back-side idlers without premature cracking. HVAC technicians, millwrights, and mechanical contractors install this belt as an OEM-replacement or upgrade on belt-drive systems where the standard AX78 designation is called out. It is well suited for both light commercial and residential equipment requiring a cogged raw-edge belt in the AX cross-section.
Designed as a direct replacement for AX78 cross-section cogged V-belts used in belt-drive HVAC equipment, blowers, and general industrial machinery requiring an AX-section belt with an 80.2-inch outside length.
Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or mechanical contractor. Disengage and lock out all power to the drive system before removing the old belt or installing the new one. Never force a belt onto a sheave with a pry bar; always adjust center distance to allow proper seating. After installation, verify tension and alignment per the equipment manufacturer specifications before returning the system to service.
