The CONBRACO 4ALF4A44AM is a lead-free bronze dual check backflow preventer with atmospheric vent, designed for use in potable water systems. It installs on 3/4 inch threaded pipe connections and carries a 175 psi water, oil, and gas (WOG) pressure rating. The dual check valve design provides two independent check valves that prevent reverse flow of potentially contaminated water back into the supply line. The atmospheric vent adds a secondary layer of protection by discharging any water that passes through the first check but fails at the second, making this assembly appropriate for higher-hazard backflow applications. Licensed plumbers and water system installers are the typical trade installing this device.
This backflow preventer is suited for residential and light commercial potable water applications where code requires protection against back-siphonage and backpressure. It is commonly installed on supply lines serving irrigation systems, water heaters, boiler makeup water connections, and similar points of use where cross-connection control is required by local plumbing codes. The lead-free bronze construction meets federal and state lead-content regulations for devices that contact drinking water.
Designed for potable water applications requiring dual check backflow prevention with atmospheric vent on 3/4 inch threaded pipe connections in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes, IPC, and applicable cross-connection control regulations. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before removing any existing backflow device or making connections. Install in the orientation specified by the manufacturer and verify that the atmospheric vent port remains unobstructed and is not piped to a closed drain without proper air gap. After installation, restore pressure gradually and inspect all connections for leaks before returning the system to service.
