The CONBRACO 31-501-04 is a bronze boiler drain valve designed for residential and light commercial plumbing and hydronic heating systems. It features a 1/2 inch pipe size with MNPT x GHT end connections and a 5/8 inch long shank, making it a standard choice for draining boilers, water heaters, and low-point drain applications. The handwheel handle provides reliable manual operation. Rated to 250 degrees F maximum working temperature, this valve is suited for hot water systems where a durable, corrosion-resistant shutoff point is needed. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
This valve is used in residential and commercial hydronic heating systems, boilers, and domestic hot water plumbing where a low-point drain or service port is required. The MNPT x GHT end connection allows attachment of a standard garden hose thread fitting for controlled drainage during system service, flushing, or winterization. Its bronze body and handle construction hold up to the temperature and pressure demands typical of boiler drain service points.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation boiler drain valve for residential and light commercial boiler and water heater systems using 1/2 inch MNPT threaded connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician. Shut off system water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any drain valve. Ensure the MNPT threads are wrapped with thread seal tape or pipe dope per local plumbing code before threading into the boiler or piping body. Do not exceed the rated working temperature of 250 degrees F in service.
