The CONBRACO 10-512-B40 is a bronze ASME safety relief valve designed to protect closed water heating systems and pressure vessels from dangerous overpressure conditions. With a maximum working pressure of 40 psi and a BTU/h rating of 305,000, this valve is sized for residential and light commercial hot water heating applications. When system pressure exceeds the set point, the valve opens automatically to discharge water and relieve pressure, then reseats when safe operating conditions return. The 0.5 inch inlet connection makes it compatible with standard piping configurations commonly found in boiler and water heater installations. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the typical installers for this type of device.
This safety relief valve is used on hot water boilers, water heaters, and pressurized heating system vessels where ASME code compliance is required. It is suited to residential hydronic heating systems and light commercial setups operating within the 40 psi pressure range and up to 305,000 BTU/h heat input. The bronze body construction provides corrosion resistance in wet system environments, making it appropriate for potable and non-potable closed-loop hydronic applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement safety relief valve for residential and light commercial hot water boilers and water heaters with a 0.5 inch inlet connection and a maximum operating pressure of 40 psi.
Installation of safety relief valves on boilers and water heaters must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASME requirements. Shut off the heating system and allow it to cool and depressurize fully before removing or installing the valve. The discharge outlet must be piped to a safe drain location in compliance with the International Plumbing Code. Never cap or plug the discharge port of a safety relief valve.
