The COMNET SFP-14B is a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) fiber optic transceiver designed for 1000BASE-FX Gigabit Ethernet applications. Operating at a 1550nm wavelength over a single fiber strand, it supports link distances up to 20 kilometers using a BiDi (bidirectional) SC connector interface. This transceiver is suited for network infrastructure deployments where long-reach single-fiber runs are required, reducing cabling overhead without sacrificing throughput. Licensed network technicians and structured cabling professionals are the primary installers.
The SFP-14B is intended for use in single-mode fiber optic networks where extended reach is a priority. Typical applications include campus backbone connections, municipal fiber rings, and industrial or utility network segments where pulling two-strand runs is impractical. The SC connector interface is common in both enterprise and industrial networking environments, making this transceiver broadly applicable across a range of managed switches, media converters, and routers with open SFP slots.
Designed as an SFP form-factor replacement transceiver for use in Gigabit Ethernet equipment with open SFP slots supporting 1000BASE-FX single-mode fiber operation.
Installation is performed by qualified network technicians. Before inserting or removing the transceiver, follow the equipment manufacturer's hot-swap guidelines and observe proper ESD precautions. Clean all fiber end-faces with an appropriate fiber optic cleaning tool before mating the SC connector. Ensure the paired far-end transceiver operates at the complementary wavelength (typically 1310nm) required for BiDi single-fiber operation.
