The COLUMBUS MCKINNON mc651g is a 5/8-inch galvanized screw pin anchor shackle designed for overhead lifting, rigging, and load-securing applications. The body is drop forged from micro alloy steel and then quenched and tempered to deliver an optimal balance of tensile strength and ductility. The screw pin is also alloy, heat treated and tempered. A 6:1 design factor is built into the working load limit rating. Working load limit and traceability codes are permanently marked on the shackle body, supporting inspection and load accountability on the job site. Licensed riggers, ironworkers, and marine contractors are the primary installers.
The mc651g is suited for residential and commercial rigging, crane picks, and below-the-hook load attachment where a galvanized finish is required to resist corrosion. The anchor shackle bow geometry accommodates multi-leg sling connections and angular loading better than a chain shackle. The screw pin design allows for quick installation and removal in applications where the shackle is not subject to rotation that could back out the pin. This shackle is sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style screw pin anchor shackle meeting dimensional requirements of federal specification RR-C-271 and exceeding its performance requirements. Special third-party testing and certification is available upon request at time of order.
Installation should be performed by a qualified rigger or competent person familiar with ASME B30.26 rigging hardware standards. Always verify the working load limit marked on the shackle body is appropriate for the intended load before use. The screw pin must be fully threaded and then backed off one quarter turn to seat correctly; never use a screw pin shackle in applications where pin rotation may occur. Inspect the shackle body, pin, and threads for deformation, cracks, or corrosion before each use and remove from service if any defects are found.
