The COLLIS TOOL 71167 is an MT1 outside Morse taper drill driver designed to hold and drive straight-shank drills in machine tool spindles fitted with a No. 1 Morse taper socket. It features a 3/16 inch projection and accepts drill tang thicknesses from 0.09 inches to 3/32 inches. The drill size is 0.1695 inches (No. 18 wire gauge) with a drill depth of 3/4 inch. This driver is used in production machining, toolroom, and maintenance environments where consistent, repeatable drill positioning in a Morse taper spindle is required. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers.
The 71167 is suited for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and similar equipment equipped with a No. 1 Morse taper spindle or adapter. It is appropriate for light-duty drilling operations requiring a No. 18 wire gauge drill held securely at the correct depth and tang engagement. The 3/4 inch drill depth and tang-compatible design ensure the drill is properly captured and driven without slipping under cutting loads.
Designed for use with No. 1 Morse taper spindles and adapters on standard drill presses, lathes, and milling machines requiring a 0.1695 inch (No. 18) drill driver.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified tool operators. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before seating or removing any Morse taper tooling. Clean both the taper shank and the spindle socket before insertion to ensure full contact and accurate seating. Use a proper drift and dead-blow mallet to remove the driver from the spindle - never strike the spindle housing directly.
