The CLEVELAND C80216 is a double-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking applications. Built from submicron solid carbide and coated with TiAlN, it delivers hardness and heat resistance needed for high-speed finishing cuts on ferrous and stainless materials. The ball end geometry produces contoured surfaces and three-dimensional profiles with minimal chatter. At 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool balances chip evacuation with edge rigidity across a range of cutting conditions. The double-end design effectively doubles service life before replacement, reducing per-cut tooling cost for production environments.
This end mill is suited to finish milling operations on steel, cast iron, and stainless steel in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. The straight cylindrical shank and standard length make it compatible with common collet chucks and end mill holders. Typical applications include die and mold work, profiling, slot milling, and contouring passes where a spherical cutting edge is required. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting environments where elevated temperatures are common.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch collet chucks or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron; secondary workpiece material is stainless steel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended grip depth and torque the collet or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use.
