The CLEVELAND C73441 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and light industrial applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a 118-degree split point that self-centers on entry and reduces walking on flat surfaces. The wire gauge size 13 corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.185 inches. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 2.3125-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and drill press spindles. The two-flute spiral design with a tapered web configuration promotes chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during cutting. It is suited for licensed machinists, maintenance technicians, and experienced tradespeople performing precision drilling tasks.
The C73441 is built to NAS 907 Type A standards and carries a heavy-duty grade designation, making it appropriate for demanding production and maintenance environments. It performs well in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials where a bright uncoated finish minimizes material adhesion. The right-hand cut spiral flute and web-thinned point reduce thrust requirements, which is useful when drilling on drill presses or hand-held power drills. The straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.185 inches seats securely in keyless or keyed chucks without runout concerns.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for jobber-length drill applications in any keyed or keyless chuck accepting a 0.185-inch straight-cylindrical shank, consistent with Cleveland Series 2228 tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify zero runout before operation. Always power down and lock out the drill press or power tool before changing bits. Follow applicable shop safety standards and use appropriate chip shields and eye protection when drilling metal.
